Shaw Lane Sports Club is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Finance Officer to join our team.

Job Title: Bookkeeper/Finance Officer
Reports to: Team Leader
Location: Shaw Lane Sports Club
Job Type: Permanent Part Time (20 hours per week with flexibility as needed)
Potential for Full-Time longer term
Job Summary
Shaw Lane is seeking to appoint an experienced bookkeeper/finance officer with Sage 50 accounting
software experience and a good grasp of day-to-day bookkeeping practices. You will be responsible for
maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the business with timely and effective financial
information. You will be well supported in your role from our accountants and advisors and will play an
important role in the development and delivery of our long-term strategic vision for the Shaw Lane site.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
Process accounts payable and receivable
Monitoring of supplier contracts and agreements
Bank reconciliations and monthly reconciliations of key accounts
Maintain the general ledger and prepare financial reports
Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations
Ensure compliance with UK tax laws and company financial policies
Assist in preparing documents for tax filings and audits
Work with accountants as required
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal controls
Maintain organised financial records and filing systems
Manage the monthly payroll process
Maintain a robust expenses management system
Support the Team Leader/General Manager
Other Roles and Responsibilities
Cash handling – counting and preparing the weekly cash takings for banking
Assisting the Hospitality manager with menu/price reviews, customer meetings, and other admin
tasks
Reception support when required
Requirements:
Skills:
o Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role
o Proficient in Sage accounting software (Sage 50)
o Strong understanding of bookkeeping practices and financial reporting
o Familiarity with payroll processing is an advantage
o High level of accuracy and attention to detail
o Strong organisational, time-management and communication skills
o A relevant qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance (AAT preferred but not
essential)
